The Tokyo Yakatabune Association is a union of 36 yakatabune companies in the Tokyo area. The association was originally formed in 1992 with yakatabune operators based along the Sumida River, and was the first association of its kind to be recognized by the Kanto District Transport Bureau of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.
Along with the expansion of the yakatabune community itself, the association also works with companies based along the Arakawa and Fukakawa Rivers, Minato Ward, Shingawa, and Haneda. As the bays and rivers of Tokyo become more and more congested, an urgent need for regional safety has brought forth communication between yakatabune and associated companies, leading to the comprehensive membership of the Tokyo Yakatabune Association of today.
Our primary goals are promoting safety among our extensive fleet, improving the quality of service to our customers, and helping our members improve as boat operators. In addition, the Association places emphasis on the education and distribution of information throughout its membership in order to promote a stronger understanding of business management and technical operation. We are fully committed to improving our level of service and our operational skills in order to provide our customers with the best and safest Tokyo bay and river cruise possible.
We hope you join us soon, and enjoy a cruise with a touch of Old Edo flavor, yakatabune style.
